Makerere overcome Shukri in University of Benghazi First Futsal championship preps

Makerere University’s Futsal team, led by Coach Douglas Bamweyana, secured a 6-3 victory over Shukri FC in a thrilling warm-up game on Saturday evening at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena.

This match was Makerere’s final preparation for the University of Benghazi First Futsal Championship in Libya

Emmanuel Ekwong and Amabe Junior scored two goals each, while Samuel Omara and Osuna Cosmas added one goal each, ensuring the university team ended their preparations on a high note.

Makerere University, having participated in the 2023/24 Futsal Uganda Cup, has been invited to represent Uganda in the inaugural International Futsal Championship at the Suleiman Al-Darrat Complex in Benghazi.

Bamweyana Douglas, Head Coach of the Makerere University (MUK) Futsal Team, expressed his gratitude for the invitation to the tournament, stating,

“It being an invitational tournament, we are glad of the chance that has come our way and the boys are ready and for the past 6 weeks, they have been putting in the work and that explains the positive results out of this practice match. We are hopeful of a great performance at the tournament “

Ekong Emmanuel, Captain of the team, added, “It’s an honor for Makerere University to be invited to participate in this prestigious futsal university tournament. We’re fully aware of the task ahead and are well-prepared to face the challenge.”

The travelling team to Benghazi includes:

At the Championship, Makerere will battle against seven other universities from seven other countries from different continents of the world .
