Futsal Uganda Cup: Curtains set to come down as Luzira takes on Park in the final

The Futsal Uganda Cup champions will be crowned on Friday when FC Luzira face Park FC in the final at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena in Kampala.

The tournament has been full of drama, excitement, late-time goals and incredible storylines.

This year’s edition will come to be regarded as one of the greatest of all time and the final is set to be a fascinating encounter.

Park advanced through the semi-finals by defeating Kisenyi FC after a thrilling penalty shoot-out after 4-4 draw after full-time. For Luzira, they comfortably defeated Pitch Pirates 4-1 on their route to the finals.

Before the semis, Luzira eliminated Al Haramen while Park FC oozed past Edgars Youth Programme.

This will be the second meeting between the two sides this season after Park defeated Luzira 4-1 in the BetPawa Futsal Super League.

If Luzira are going to win this final, Ogwang will need to be on his best form on Friday. the lanky wide player has scored the most goals in this competition by scoring 12 goals in four games. This is including four against Al Haramen and three against Pitch Pirates.

Abasi Muluya ( Park)

Only Ogwang has scored more goals than Muluya in this competition. The sharp shooter has scored 10 goals in five games and whenever he is top form, Park is very difficult to stop as his 33 goals in 10 games guided the Alex Ssegawa’s side to the 2020/21 Futsal Super League title.

What was said by both managers before the game

Speaking to Alex Segawa, the Park head coach noted that his troops are calm and will play their hearts out to win the first silverware of the season.

“Tomorrow is the finale and obviously tensions and spirits are high so we are handling everything with absolute calm” Segawa said before adding;

“We will play our hearts out and hope to win with God on our side”

While Coach Samuel Tusingwire said he expects his side to give 100% after the intensive training sessions since their semi-final victory over Pitch Pirates

“Our team is ready for the challenge. We’ve had a full week of training since the semi final, so that’s about 5 training sessions excluding the break. We feel prepared enough.”

“I expect the boys to give 100 percent to try and win the cup. Park FC is a good team, but we will approach this ready to test ourselves against them, and ultimately try to win the match.”
