Mengo City have done it again! They officially defended their Futsal Uganda Cup title tonight, but they really had to dig deep to see off a stubborn QC Mbarara side.

The match started with Samuel Omara looking completely unstoppable. He bagged two clinical goals early on to put Mengo 2-0 up, and for a moment, it looked like the champions were going to cruise to the trophy. But Mbarara had other plans.

Shafiq Mulangira pulled one back just before the break to give QC some hope. Then, right after the restart, the “Hitman” Eria Kabagambe hammered home an equalizer to make it 2-2. You could feel the tension—the momentum had shifted, and it looked like the upset was on.

But then came the moment of the match. Mengo’s goalkeeper, Geoffrey Atuhairwe, produced a pure bit of magic to put the champs back in front. That goal seemed to break Mbarara’s spirit and opened the floodgates.

Sharif Opuuli then took over, scoring a beauty from a ridiculous angle before adding his second of the night just minutes later. By the time Captain Anthony Male got on the scoresheet to make it 6-2, the party had already started in the Mengo camp. Daniel Ebedu grabbed a late consolation for Mbarara, but the night belonged to the boys in the white colors.

This is a double of the Mengo ownership as Mengo City Lady Stormers also won the Futsal Women Uganda Cup after defeating Entebbe Cheetahs in the Ladies final earlier on in the day.
