Joshua Aziku scored a second-half hat-trick as Mengo City FC came from behind to defeat Lubiri Falcons 3–1 and book a place in the Futsal Uganda Cup final.
Lubiri Falcons made a bright start and were rewarded in the 6th minute when Ssentongo Arafat put them ahead. The Falcons pressed high and forced a mistake in Mengo’s half before Arafat reacted quickest to a loose ball and fired home to give Lubiri an early lead.
Mengo enjoyed more possession after going behind but struggled to break through Lubiri’s compact defense for most of the first half. Lubiri stayed disciplined at the back and protected their advantage going into the break.
The game changed midway through the second half. Aziku brought Mengo level in the 25th minute after pouncing on a quick attacking move and finishing calmly to make it 1–1.
With the momentum now on their side, Mengo pushed forward and found the breakthrough in the 36th minute. Aziku struck again, finishing a well-worked move to put his side ahead.
Two minutes later he completed his hat-trick, reacting quickest inside the area to turn the ball home and seal the 3–1 victory.
The win sends Mengo City into the Futsal Uganda Cup final, with Aziku’s clinical display proving the difference on the night. Lubiri Falcons started strongly but could not hold on as Mengo took control in the closing stages.
