Edgars Youth Programme produced a thrilling second-half comeback to defeat Grameen FC 5–2 and secure their place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Futsal Uganda Cup.

Grameen took a 1–0 lead into the halftime break after Junior Niwamanya found the net in the 11th minute, leaving Edgars with work to do after a quiet opening period.

The second half, however, belonged entirely to Edgars. They returned to the court with renewed intensity, pressing higher and moving the ball with greater urgency. Their persistence paid off in the 23rd minute when Isaac Apenyo grabbed the equaliser.

Just a minute later, Apenyo struck again, tapping in his second of the night to turn the game on its head and give Edgars the lead.

Moments later, Feni Alfred added a third to stretch the advantage to 3–1.

Grameen briefly threatened a comeback when Niwamanya scored his second of the match to make it 3–2, but Edgars quickly regained control. Apenyo completed his hat trick from the penalty spot before youngster Brian Olwa came off the bench late on to score and seal an emphatic victory.

The win sends Edgar Watson’s-owned club into the last eight, where they will be joined by one of the best losers from the qualifying round.
