The roar of the crowd, the tension of sudden death, and the glory of lifting silverware are all set to return as the Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU) officially ushers in the 6th Edition of the Men’s Futsal Uganda Cup this Friday.
Since its debut in the 2017/18 season, the Men’s Futsal Uganda Cup has evolved into one of the country’s most coveted futsal competitions. Built on a pure knockout format, the tournament has consistently delivered drama, surprises, and unforgettable moments—where one game can define a season and every goal can change history.
The competition’s legacy is already rich. Luzira Thunders etched their name into history as the inaugural champions in 2017/18, paving the way for Dream Team (2018/19) and Yeak Kabowa (2019/20) to follow. The global COVID-19 pandemic brought the tournament to a halt for three seasons, but its return in 2023/24 reignited the passion, with Park Futsal Club lifting the trophy. Last season, Mengo City Futsal Club rose to the occasion, claiming the 2024/25 title and further cementing their place among Uganda’s futsal elite.
Now, the spotlight shifts to the 2025/26 campaign, officially the sixth competitive edition of the Uganda Cup. Ten teams will battle for national bragging rights: Lubiri Falcons, Edgars Youth Programme, Mengo City FC, Kabowa Dream Team FC, Kisenyi FC, Lubaga Grameen, Nansana Aska FC, Mbarara QC, Old Kampala Futsal Club, and Entebbe Cheetahs FC. The lineup blends experience, youth development, and hunger—ingredients that promise fireworks from the opening whistle.
The tournament will be contested on a one-round knockout basis, ensuring that every fixture carries weight. From the opening round, six teams will progress through victory, while two sides will advance via byes to complete the Quarter Final lineup.
From there, the margins grow finer and the pressure heavier, as four teams advance to the Semi-Finals in pursuit of a place in the final.The Semi-Finals will not only decide the finalists but also set up a third-place playoff, guaranteeing that all top-four positions are settled competitively on the court. Ultimately, two teams will remain—one match away from immortality and a place in Uganda Cup history.
The journey begins this Friday, with three thrilling opening fixtures to ignite the tournament. Kabowa Dream Team FC face Lubiri Falcons at 7:00 PM, followed by Edgars Youth Programme versus Lubaga Grameen at 8:00 PM. The night concludes with a high-stakes encounter between Old Kampala Futsal Club and Mbarara QC at 9:00 PM.
