The Futsal Association Uganda (FAU) has officially announced the launch of a landmark competition for the women’s game, confirming that the Maiden Futsal Uganda Cup Women for the 2025/26 season will kick off on Friday, 6th February 2026. This new tournament represents a major milestone in FAU’s mission to grow, structure, and elevate women’s futsal across the country.
The historic competition will get underway with two opening fixtures on the first day of action. At 5:00 PM, Old Kampala Ladies will face Nansana Aska Ladies in what is expected to be a tightly contested clash between two competitive sides.
This will be followed by a 6:00 PM encounter between Mengo City and Lubiri Falcons, a fixture that promises excitement as both teams look to stamp their authority early in the tournament.
The maiden edition of the Women’s Futsal Uganda Cup will feature 10 women’s teams, highlighting the growing depth and nationwide spread of women’s futsal. The participating teams are Mengo City, Lubiri Falcons, Lubaga Grameen, Old Kampala, Entebbe Cheetahs, Nansana Aska, Edgars Youth Program, Kisenyi, Mbarara QC, and Kabowa Dream Team. Each team brings its own identity, talent, and ambition, making the competition highly anticipated.
The qualifying round will be played on a single-round knockout basis, ensuring that every match carries significant importance. From the opening round, six winning teams, together with teams that benefited from bye-drawn fixtures (Lubaga Grameen and Entebbe Cheetahs), will advance to the Quarter Finals. This format has been designed to maintain competitiveness while ensuring a smooth progression of the tournament.
The Quarter Finals will see four winning teams progress to the Semi-Finals, where the race for silverware will intensify. The Semi-Final stage will be decisive, as the winning teams advance to the Women’s Uganda Cup Final, where the inaugural champions will be crowned.
In addition, FAU has confirmed that the losing teams in the Semi-Finals will contest a third-place playoff, ensuring that final rankings for third and fourth place are also determined on the court.
Through the introduction of the Women’s Uganda Cup, the Futsal Association Uganda continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating meaningful competitive platforms for women athletes. The competition is expected to enhance player development, increase exposure for women’s futsal clubs, and inspire greater participation at both grassroots and elite levels.
As the countdown to 6th February 2026 continues, excitement is steadily building among clubs, players, and fans. The Maiden Futsal Uganda Cup Women is more than just a new tournament — it is a powerful statement of FAU’s vision for the future of women’s futsal in Uganda.
