Makerere University has been invited to represent Uganda at the University of Benghazi’s inaugural International Championship.
The Libyan university extended the invitation to Makerere University, selecting them among a few esteemed institutions to participate in this year’s event.
The Makerere University team, led by Coach Douglas Bamweyana, will compete in the Futsal tournament, which will take place at the state-of-the-art Suleiman Al-Darrat Complex in Benghazi.
The team, having participated in the 2023/24 Futsal Uganda Cup, is set to travel to Libya early next week.
The following players will represent Makerere University at the championship:

- Emmanuel Ekwong
- Cosmas Osuna
- Nicholas Ddungu
- Bahinguzi Owomugisha
- Ali Maguzi
- Amabe Junior Humphrey
- Sadati Kasaga
- Samuel Makmot Omara ( played for Luzira FC in the Futsal Super League)
- Rymon Muhumuza
Before flying out and in preparation for the Championship, Makerere will take on Shukri FC in a friendly game to be played at Old Kampala Futsal Arena on Saturday, 6th July
