Ogwang Joel scored four second half goals for FC Luzira as they defeated Makerere University 7-4 on Friday evening to secure a quarterfinal slot in the 2023 Futsal Uganda Cup.

With the first half having ended 3-2, Ogwang got his first of the game immediately after the break by tapping in from close range.

His second of the game came a minute afterwards in a similar fashion to extend Luzira’s lead to two goals.

After Makerere halved that lead in the 25th minute, Ogwang completed his hat-trick in the 29th minute before netting his fourth with arguably the last attempt on goal to ensure the game ended 7-4.

With this emphatic victory, Luzira advance to the quarterfinals as group A winners with six points garnered in their two games.

Edgar’s Youth Programme also advance to the last 8 after finishing second in the group with three points, while Makerere University gets eliminated for finishing last.

Luzira and Edgars now join Kabowa Dream and Park FC in the quarters.

Next week, one more team will secure a last 8 slot as group B teams will play their rearmost games .

Kabowa Dream will take on Friends of Football, while ASKA will battle First Touch Sports.

Both ASKA and First Touch Sports are on three points, so the winner from that match-up will surely take that slot.
