Futsal Referees Course Kicks Off

The Futsal Association Uganda in conjunction with FUFA on Monday kicked off a five-day MA Futsal Referees Course at the Africa Bible University in Lubowa.

The training course comes at an ideal time with just two match-days into the 2022 Futsal Super League season.

It has brought together 17 elite Futsal referees including two Female Referees Dorcus Namukisa and Adams Rashidah.

Kalema Ronnie (Chairman FUFA Football Development Committee), representing FUFA President Hon Moses Magogo, declared the Course open.

Kalema briefly commented: “Football development will only be achieved through capacity building and increasing the figure of human resource through such education arrangements. Our target is to have our referees for Futsal, football and beach soccer officiate at the World cup.”

Other FUFA officials Mwebe Ali (FUFA Football Development Officer) and Miiro Nsubuga (Chairman FRSC) also attended the opening day.

Mauritian FIFA Futsal Technical Instructor Farid Bhewa is in charge of the 5-day course and assisted by local instructors; Kizito Rehma Nansubuga (FUFA Futsal referees fitness instructor) and Samuel Egesa (Referees Manager).

FAU President Hamza Junju says that the course is a great step In the right direction to developing the Sport of Futsal in the Country.

“This is to result into better Futsal game officiating, improving the quality of the game in the Country. I believe the trained Futsal referees are to go a long way in as far as representing the country in the upcoming Futsal Continental and World games in the near future,” stated Junju.
