History will be made on Friday, March 13, at Old Kampala Futsal Arena when Mengo City Women face Entebbe Cheetahs Women in the first-ever Women’s Futsal Uganda Cup final.
Both sides earned their place after strong semifinal performances and will now battle for the inaugural trophy in what promises to be an exciting contest.
Mengo City come into the final full of confidence after defeating Nansana ASKA Women 3–1 in the semifinals. Angel Nakitto was the star of the night, scoring twice in the 8th and 32nd minutes to guide her side into the final. Her movement in the attacking area and sharp finishing have made her one of Mengo’s most dangerous players throughout the competition.
Ruth Monica also played a key role in that victory, scoring Mengo’s other goal. Her ability to connect play and support the attack has added balance to the team, helping Mengo maintain quick passing and steady control of matches.
Standing in their way are Entebbe Cheetahs Women, who showed resilience to reach the final. They edged Kisenyi Ladies 3–2 on penalties after a thrilling 2–2 draw in normal time.
Hilda Nankya gave the Cheetahs an early lead in the 5th minute before Kisenyi fought back, but Rukia Nabusooke struck late in the 34th minute to force the game into penalties. The Cheetahs held their nerve from the spot to seal their place in the final.
Entebbe Cheetahs have built their run on disciplined defending and quick counterattacks, often turning defensive situations into scoring chances. Nankya’s pace and Nabusooke’s calm finishing will once again be key for the lakeside side.
Friday’s final could turn into a fascinating tactical battle, with Mengo City expected to control possession while Entebbe Cheetahs look to strike on the break.
With the first Women’s Futsal Uganda Cup title at stake, the stage is set for a memorable night for women’s futsal in Uganda.
