Shorthand Kisenyi Edge Edgars as Cheetahs Stun QC Mbarara in Women’s Futsal Uganda Cup

A woman-less side produced a spirited display on Friday night to book their place in the Futsal Women Uganda Cup semifinals, edging 2–1 in a fiercely contested clash.

Kisenyi’s task grew even tougher in the early exchanges when goalkeeper Nakyambadde Florence was sent off for a reckless challenge, forcing the side to play the remainder of the match a player down. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Kisenyi showed grit and tactical discipline to defy the odds and hold off a determined Edgars outfit.

Sandra Butoyi and Catherine Nakiridde found the back of the net to hand Kisenyi the crucial advantage, while Belindah Mutesi pulled one back for Edgars in what proved to be a mere consolation.

In the other quarterfinal fixture, , who had impressed in the previous round, were stunned by a resilient side in a pulsating five-goal thriller.

Brenda Nakayenga netted a brace for the Cheetahs to complement Hilda Nankya’s early strike, sealing a memorable victory. QC Mbarara responded through Masitula Naaku and Marianah Nakato, but their efforts fell short as they bowed out at the quarterfinal stage.

Kisenyi and Entebbe Cheetahs now join and in the semifinals set for this Friday at Old Kampala Futsal Arena.

Mengo City will face Nansana ASKA in one semifinal showdown, while Kisenyi FC take on Entebbe Cheetahs in what promises to be another thrilling encounter as the race for the Women’s Futsal Uganda Cup title intensifies.
