As the race for silverware gathers momentum, the Futsal Uganda Cup returns tonight with a decisive set of Quarter-Final Qualifiers that promise intensity, quality and drama across both the women’s and men’s categories.

With knockout places on the line, Match Day II is more than just another round — it is a defining moment for teams determined to keep their title ambitions alive.

Three high-stakes fixtures headline the evening, each presenting a unique tactical narrative. The action begins in the women’s category as Edgars Youth Programme take on Kisenyi in what is expected to be a fascinating clash of styles.

Edgars have built a reputation around defensive discipline, structured build-up play and sharp counter-attacks. Their identity revolves around collective responsibility and patience in possession.

Head coach Masembe Adam believes preparation will be key.

“We’ve worked tirelessly to build our style around discipline and shared responsibility. Tonight, that discipline will decide this match,” he noted.

Kisenyi, however, approach the contest with a different philosophy. They thrive on speed, high pressing and direct attacking transitions.

Their fearless approach has unsettled several opponents this season, and head coach Nsereko Brian has made it clear that his side will not compromise their identity.

“We respect Edgars but we won’t be passive. We’re here to play our futsal — fast, direct, and fearless,” he stated.

The outcome could hinge on which side successfully imposes its tempo early in the contest.

The second women’s fixture sees QC Mbarara face Kabowa Dream Team in a battle between tactical structure and expressive attacking play. QC Mbarara are known for their defensive organisation and measured transitions, often controlling spaces effectively before committing numbers forward.

Head coach Martin Mpuuga emphasised the importance of detail in knockout football.

“We are taking it one game at a time — detail matters. We’ve prepared for every possible scenario and are ready to adapt,” he said.

Kabowa Dream Team arrive with confidence and creative flair. Their fluid passing sequences and attacking rotations have made them one of the competition’s most exciting sides to watch.

Head coach Kaweesa Jimmy is encouraging his players to embrace freedom on the court.

“This generation of players loves to express themselves. We want the ball, we want to attack, and we will let our futsal do the talking,” he explained.

Should QC Mbarara succeed in controlling the tempo, they may frustrate Kabowa’s rhythm. But if Kabowa find early momentum, the match could quickly open up into an end-to-end encounter.

The evening concludes with a highly anticipated men’s clash between Mengo City and Nansana ASKA.

Mengo City enter the fixture as one of the tournament’s strong contenders, combining experience, tactical awareness and composure in possession. Their ability to dictate play has made them formidable in high-pressure matches.

Head coach Abdi Fatah has instilled a clear mindset within his squad.

“Every game is a final. We respect all opponents, but our hunger to win has never been stronger,” he remarked.

Nansana ASKA, meanwhile, have built their campaign on resilience and clinical counter-attacking play. Comfortable without prolonged possession, they are capable of absorbing pressure and capitalising on key moments.

With both sides bringing contrasting strengths to the court, the contest may ultimately be decided by a single moment of quality.

As the competition progresses, the growth and competitiveness of futsal in Uganda continue to shine through. The Quarter-Final Qualifiers represent another significant step in the journey toward crowning champions in the 2026 edition.
