Mengo City showcased remarkable resilience in the betPawa Futsal Super League, coming from behind to secure a thrilling 5-3 victory over the Kabowa Dream Team.
The match proved a true test of character for the Stormers, but they rose to the challenge, with Abdulkarim Tebera leading the charge with a brilliant hat-trick.

Tebera opened the scoring for Mengo City in the very first minute, but Kabowa quickly turned the tide. Vincent Kazibwe leveled the score in the sixth minute before Carlos Kaddu struck twice in quick succession, giving Kabowa a 3-1 lead by the 10th minute.
However, Mengo City regrouped swiftly. In the 12th minute, Samuel Omara pulled one back to spark the comeback. Tebera then added two more goals within five minutes, completing his hat-trick and putting Mengo City ahead 4-3 by halftime.
After the break, youngster Farouk Tumwesigye sealed Mengo City’s victory in the 32nd minute with a sublime strike past Kabowa goalkeeper Lukwago.

With this result, the Stormers move a step closer to the 2024/25 betPawa FSL title, now topping the 12-team table with 48 points heading into the final three matches of the season. The victory also extends Mengo’s unbeaten run to 18 games, with their only loss this season coming on the opening day against Park FC.
Sitting a point and a place below Mengo City are defending champions Park FC, who overcame bottom-placed Busunju Spaks 3-0.
Meanwhile, Ilyas Omran was the star player of the day, netting six goals to help Kisenyi FC defeat Crown Lubiri 9-2 in a dominant Somali derby. Ali Abdullah, who scored twice, and Justus Ssempijja, who added another, completed the scoring for Kisenyi.

Omran’s six goals took his tally to 35, extending his lead over Gaddafi Bazanyanengo of Kabuusu Cloud by nine goals in the race for the betPawa FSL golden boot.
In other games, Kabuusu Cloud returned to winning ways, beating Lubaga Grameen 5-2. QC Mbarara also bounced back with a 7-3 victory over Nansana ASKA thanks to Kenneth Majara’s five goals, while Kisugu FC held on to overcome Edgars Youth Programmee 4-2.
