The Futsal Uganda Cup Quarterfinals delivered high-stakes drama as Uganda’s top Futsal teams battled for the four coveted spots in the semifinals. In the end, four betPawa FSL sides emerged victorious, securing their places in the last four.

The four teams that secured semifinal spots are Kisenyi FC, Park FC, Mengo City, and Kabuusu Clouds.

Starting off with the first quarterfinal of the day, Tonny Ssemwogerere stole the show with a stunning hat-trick, helping Kabuusu Clouds come from behind to eliminate Motion Sports 10-4. Nsamba Kevin added a brace, while Najib Muwonge, Gaddafi Bazanyanengo, Lule Uthman, Julius Ssenonga, and Mutebi Samuel also scored, sealing a convincing victory for Kabuusu Clouds.

Park FC, meanwhile, progressed to the last four after thrashing First Touch Sports 9-1. Joshua Aziku led the charge with a hat-trick, while Derrick Walugembe scored twice. Shafiq Mulangira also netted a double, and Michael Abura and goalkeeper Brian Drileba added their names to the scoresheet, capping off a dominant display by the defending champions.

In the third game of the day, youngster Ilyas Omran put on a show-stopping performance, scoring seven times to help Kisenyi FC overcome non-league side Fiyore SC 9-4. Omran’s impressive haul included five goals in the second half, ensuring the Sky Blues secured their spot in the last four.

The last quarterfinal was a nail-biter, with Mengo City taking on fellow betPawa FSL side Crown Lubiri. Crown started brightly, leading 1-0 at the break courtesy of Mohammad Sharif’s strike. Sharif doubled Crown’s lead after the break, but Mengo City refused to give up. In a thrilling finale, Abdulkarim Tebera pulled a goal back for Mengo in the 37th minute, and Farouk Tumwesigye equalized less than two minutes later. With the score tied 2-2 after 40 minutes, the game went straight to penalties. Goalkeeper Stuart Kafuluma proved the hero for Mengo City, saving two kicks as his side won 5-4 in the shootout.

The stage is now set for the semifinals, scheduled for April 2025. Kisenyi FC will face off against Park FC, while Kabuusu Clouds will battle Mengo City in the other semifinal matchup.
