USPA PRESIDENT IMPRESSED BY GROWTH OF FUTSAL

Uganda Sports Press Association president, Patrick Kanyomozi attended the fourth matchday of the Futsal Super League at the Old Kampala Sports Arena.

Kanyomozi, was among the guests for the start of the second round of the 2022  Futsal Super League which was held on Saturday.

Asked whether Futsal has the ability to grow and become a household sport in the country, Kanyomozi said that the future is bright.

“ I think it is a more fun side of football and it is easier to market than the 11 a side as well as being shorter and more intense”, he says.

He encouraged more sports journalists to be able to come to these games because he believes that the game has the ability to grow tremendously.

“I have been really impressed by the quality on show by the players and I encourage more media personnel to cover these games because it has the potential to explode”, he says.

He also acknowledged that there have been discussions with the Futsal federation to include the game at the end of year USPA awards.

“We have been in discussion with the federation for the last two years to incorporate the game into the awards and hopefully can be considered at the end of the year”, he says.

Hamza Jjunju, the chairman of the Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU) says that the USPA president attending the Futsal Super League was one of the steps taken by FAU to engage more stakeholders.

“FAU is on a push to engage with the media more using the leading body and above all to see Futsal listed on the USPA awards”, he says.
