Uganda rally from two-goals down to beat Somalia in FSL Select Game

Uganda’s FSL Select Team has beaten Somalia’s FSL Select Team 4-3 to take a slim advantage heading into the second leg next weekend.

Andrew Kanyanga, Omara Samuel and Kevin Ssekimbega scored Uganda’s goals as they rallied from two-goals to secure the vital victory Infront a mouthwatering crowd at O’Kla Futsal Arena in Old Kampala. The other Ugandan goal was an own goal from Somalia’s Sabir Abdirizak.

AbdiKarim Omar scored all three goals for Somalia, who started the game strongly.

AbdiKarim gave Somalia an early lead when he tapped home from close range in the third minutes

Less than 10 minutes later, the Yeak Kabowa forward doubled Somalia’s lead with a neat finish past Othieno Ivan Paul – the Ugandan goalkeeper.

Uganda then pulled a goal back through Samuel Omara, who made an intelligent run into the box to finish past Sabir.

Immediately after restart, Andrew Kanyanga levelled matters before goalkeeper Sabir netted into his own net to give Uganda the deserved lead.

Ssekimbega then came off the bench to increase Uganda’s lead to two goals heading into the game’s last five minutes.

The game subsequently ended 4-3 after AbdiKarim netted his and Somalia’s third goal of the day late on.

The second leg of this FSL Select game will happen next Saturday, 22 July at the same venue – O’Kla Futsal Arena.
