FSL Match Day 7 Preview: Battle for honorary finish

While we know, deservedly, which teams can be eventual champions of the 2021 Futsal Super League season, there’s still a lot to play for elsewhere.

Four other sides shall play for ultimate league positions in this year’s edition after ranking below the top two standings after Match 6 of the group stages.

Most notably, Kisenyi’s Futsal Club, who had a convincing start to the season but only have themselves to blame for not appearing in the semis.

They play Kampala Junior Team who finished bottom of the Albert Nile group with just a point in six games and would fancy themselves with a comfortable win on the basis of head to head results this far.

“The first stages were fair performances and we learnt a lot and we going put in practice the lessons we learnt, we have much respect for KJT and they are good but we want to get a win from them and we expect much better performance on that day”

“My boys are in good shape and ready to ramble though we won’t be with Abdulkadir fabry is injured and Abdikariim who is sick and Nsubuga Farouk, Abdifatah Ahmed and Mohammed Pilm who are on suspension”- Kisenyi’s Head Coach Sulaiman Ssekanyo ahead of their KJT tie.

Aidenal SOSA shall have a shot at yet another win with an opponent just as light as they would wish for- Yeak Kabowa.

Kabowa finished bottom of the Victoria Nile group with just 3 points and five losses whilst Aidenal almost got their noses into the semi finals but only finished third 2 points adrift Big Talent in the Albert Nile group.

Reacting to the group stage performances and the next game, Aidenal Head Coach Kaweesi James disclosed;

“As Aidenal, we are so happy and much pleased with the splendid display put by our players though we did qualify for the semis, i still say that am happy with performance of our team they put in the second round of the league winning games it should much improvement to the team”

“Our players are fit with no any injury in the team so we are super ready to encounter Kabowa the next opponent on our way as we fighting for the fifth place on the table as we waiting for the best performance in Uganda cup which is soon starting” Aidenal SOSA Head coach Kaweesi James

Whilst registering the second worst results in the league at the group stage level, Kabowa have a chance to finish with honors if they can upset Aidenal as expressed by their optimistic gaffer.

“I am so disappointed with my team not to appear in the semi finals but this is not the end, we are going in the playoffs game against Aidenal. I know this team very well because I have been watching there games and I also faced and won against them in the last season”

Yeak Kabowa Head Coach Farouk Makumbi

“They have good and experienced players though unskillful. My boys are in a better mood for the comeback, playmaker Mawejje Jovan is back from the suspension. Captain Gava Salim and goalkeeper Kirabo are also available from injuries. We are going to work harder so that we find a win in this game. Football is a game of mistakes so am preparing my boys to limit them and also working on the intensity. We respect our opponents but we don’t have to fear them. At the end of the day we shall be the winners.”- Yeak Head Coach Farouk Makumbi.

A win for Kabowa will make it two in seven this season while a win for Aidenal will imply 4 victories in the last five outings.
