FAU Conducts successful maiden AGM

The Futsal Association Uganda today 12th September, 2020 conducted its maiden Annual General Assembly at the Kenendia Hotel in Kampala.

As a key statutory responsibility, the Assembly attracted all stakeholders of the game from the FAU executive committee, Futsal Club representatives, FUFA representatives, the media, Futsal Association Uganda member associations-8 Futsal Super league Clubs, Futsal Players Association, Futsal, Referees Association, Futsal Coaches Asssociation, Futsal Women Association, Futsal Youth Association, Futsal Tertiary Institutions Association, Futsal Secondary Schools Association and Futsal Primary Schools Association each represented by two delegates(male & female) except for the Futsal Women Association.

The event whose mixed theme revolved around aspects that directly impact the game both interms of growth and the challenges that come with it was chaired by the Association Chairperson Hamza Jjunju and the Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Mugera.

The Chairman hailed the combined contributions made to grow the game thus far pointing out focus on development of the game in areas of Infrastructure, Competitions, Marketing & Promotion, Professionalization, Leadership and Social Impact.

In attendance notably was the FUFA Deputy CEO-football, Decolas Kizza who boldly highlighted how well the Association has streamlined its vision with that of the mother association-FUFA.

In addition promising increased support to the sport simultaneously minding about how best affirmative action can be applied in the game to attract more feminine participation both administratively, playing futsal and refereeing.

Among key issues that were raised and voted on were Association’s financial statements that attracted input from those in attendance who ultimately encouraged improvement in the financial performance of the game while matching it with the challenges presented by the Covid19 Pandemic that forced a premature end to the 2020 Futsal Super League season.

The other key issue deliberated on was the 2020/21 financial year budget of Shs. 136,000,000 which was voted to be reviewed before it could be passed.

The Assembly officially admitted-Park FC, Aidenal SOSA FC, Mengo City FC, Kisenyi FC, Kabowa FC, Dreamline FC, KJT FC, Edgars FC as members.

In addition, Coaches, Referees, Youth, Universities, Secondary and Primary Schools were also officially admitted.

The Association’s audited books of accounts manifested a financial growth of Shs78 million to Shs138 million with an estimated brand value of Shs 149M.

The FAU activity calendar consisting of all competitions-Super League and Uganda Cup, Youth Academies galas, primary & secondary schools galas, universities and futsal clubs administrators training was also passed.

The 2020 Annual General Assembly marks the beginning of a series of instrumental improvements as far as the development of the game is concerned.

This was the first ever AGA meeting held by the FAU a year after being officially admitted as the 34th member of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) at its 95th ordinary Assembly held in Adjumani.
