Ugandan futsal referees Brian Nsubuga Emmy and Isaac Sengendo have once again been entrusted with continental duties after being named among the match officials for the 2026 CAF Futsal Qualifiers, further cementing their growing reputation within African futsal officiating.
According to CAF match appointment documents, the two Ugandans will officiate in qualifiers scheduled for early February across Southern and East Africa.
Nsubuga will serve as First Referee, with Sengendo appointed Second Referee, in the Mozambique vs Mauritania futsal qualifier set for 8 February 2026 at the Pavilhão da Liga (Futsal Floor) in Maputo. The pair will also feature in the Tanzania vs Côte d’Ivoire fixture on 3 February 2026 at the Amani Indoor Stadium in Zanzibar, where Nsubuga has been named Third Referee and Sengendo, the Reserve Assistant Referee.
These latest assignments are the continuation of a steady upward trajectory for the two officials, who have become regular faces on CAF futsal duty in recent seasons.
In 2024, Nsubuga and Sengendo were jointly appointed for the CAF Futsal AFCON Qualifier between Namibia and Tanzania in Windhoek, a high-pressure encounter that marked one of Uganda’s earliest recent representations in continental futsal refereeing. Their performance in that qualifier laid the foundation for further trust from CAF.
The progression continued in 2025, when Brian Nsubuga Emmy was selected among 30 match officials from 12 African countries to officiate at the 2025 Futsal Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. A FIFA-certified futsal referee, Nsubuga served as an assistant referee at the tournament, which doubled as a qualifier for the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines.
Throughout this period, both referees have remained active in Uganda’s domestic game, officiating regularly in the Futsal Super League and contributing to the development of officiating standards within the country.
Their continued presence on CAF assignments reflects not only individual consistency and professionalism, but also the growing confidence CAF has in Ugandan futsal officials. As continental competitions expand, Uganda’s referees are steadily asserting their place among Africa’s trusted futsal match officials.
