Fourteen clubs have officially submitted written applications to express their interest in participating in the 2025/26 betPawa Futsal Super League (FSL), following the submission deadline on Friday evening.
Among the applicants are nine returning teams from the 2024/25 campaign, including defending champions Mengo City and Kisenyi FC, who claimed the inaugural FSL Frenzy Edition trophy. Other returning sides include Nansana ASKA, QC Mbarara, Kisugu FC, Grameen, Edgars Youth Programme, Kabowa Dream Team, and Cloud Kabuusu.
Notably, Park FC—last season’s league runners-up and Futsal Super Cup winners—along with Busunju Spaks and Crown Lubiri, did not meet the application deadline and are currently not in contention for the upcoming season.
The league also received applications from five new entrants eager to make their debut in Uganda’s top-tier futsal competition: Lamansia Sports Club, UG-Kop Futsal Club, Entebbe Cheetahs, Bulenga Zeso, and Lubiri Falcons.
These 14 clubs will now undergo a Club Licensing evaluation process, which will run until 31st July. Only the top 12 teams—based on their compliance and scores across outlined five key licensing criteria, each assigned a score percentage to ensure a fair and standardized evaluation process —will be granted licenses to compete.
Licensed clubs will then proceed with the Player Registration Exercise via the FUFA CMS System from 1st to 31st August 2025, ahead of the league kickoff set for 25th September 2025.
