“Sports is one of life’s greatest teachers,” he told the crowd. “It teaches us how to win with humility and lose with grace. Success is not only about talent – it’s about hard work, consistency, and resilience.”

The FAU CEO emphasized that sports should not be seen as a distraction, but as an essential part of education and character building. He praised all participants for their commitment and effort, regardless of their finishing positions, saying that by simply showing up and giving their best, they had already proven themselves as winners.

“Whether you finished first, last, or somewhere in between – by participating and supporting one another, you’ve already won the race of character,” he said.

Highlighting the broader impact of sports, he pointed out how many young athletes have used their talents as stepping stones to educational opportunities, including scholarships and national representation.

“Sports have opened doors for many young people across Uganda,” he noted. “From school pitches to national teams, it’s clear that when supported well, sport can change lives.”

He also applauded the role of parents and teachers in nurturing young talent and encouraged them to continue supporting both academics and co-curricular development.

“When we invest in sports, we invest in the future of our young people. And that’s an investment worth making,” he affirmed.

The event featured a series of competitive and fun-filled activities, with students showcasing their talent, teamwork, and school spirit. The organization of the day was widely praised, with Mr. Mugera congratulating the school for putting together such a vibrant and well-coordinated celebration.
