Park FC have extended their lead at the top of the betPawa Futsal Super League table after Crown Lubiri halted Mengo City’s impressive winning streak. Mengo City, who had won eight consecutive games, were finally stopped by Crown Lubiri, allowing Park FC to increase their advantage at the top of the standings.
Park FC’s 4-0 win over QC Mbarara in their gameweek 11 game was instrumental in their lead extension. Michael Abura scored a brace, while Joshua Aziku and Derrick Walugembe each added a goal to help Park FC secure their tenth win of the season.

The draw between Crown Lubiri and Mengo City was a significant one, as it ended Mengo City’s winning run and gave Park FC a boost in their bid to retain the title. AbdiNasir Omar scored both goals for Crown Lubiri, while Samuel Omara and Male Anthony found the back of the net for Mengo City, who were held to a 2-2 draw.

With this result, Park FC now have a comfortable four-point lead at the top of the table at the end of the first round of the 2024/25 betPawa FSL. In addition to the Park and Mengo games, four other matches were played on Friday evening at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
Kabowa Dream Team were the biggest winners, dismantling Lubaga Grameen 9-0 with Victor Kazibwe netting five times and Mugenyi Swabur scoring a hat-trick. Edgars Youth Programme also secured their second successive victory of the season, beating Kisenyi FC 4-2, thanks to a hat-trick from Brian Olwa. Umar Luswabi scored a hat-trick to help Kisugu FC secure a 7-4 win over Busunju Spak, while Isa Kisule’s impressive haul helped Nansana ASKA hold off Cloud Kabuusu 6-4.

The stage is set for an exciting second round, which will kick off next Friday. Mengo City will be looking to bounce back and get back to winning ways as soon as possible, and they will have a tough test when they take on league leaders Park FC in their opening game of the second round.
