In an electrifying showdown in the betPawa Futsal Super League, two titans, Abdulkarim Abdullahi Ahmed and Michael Lubowa, showcased their prowess on Thursday evening during Matchday 21 kick-off.

Abdullahi’s stellar performance began with a bang as he notched two hat-tricks, leading his Kisenyi FC to a resounding 9-2 victory over Aidenal. Meanwhile, Lubowa dazzled for Lubaga Grameen, matching Abdullahi’s feat with an astonishing eight-goal spree to secure a 9-6 win against bottom-placed Kawempe.

Abdullahi wasted no time, striking early for Kisenyi with a goal from a tight angle moments after kickoff. His second came 15 minutes into the game, swiftly regaining the lead for Kisenyi after Aidenal’s Swalleh Kaboyo briefly equalized the score.

After the break, Abdullahi turned provider, setting up Shafici Darir for two goals before unleashing a relentless onslaught, scoring four goals in just eight minutes, propelling his team to an 8-1 lead.

In the later exchanges of this game, Marvin Atengeka extended Kisenyi’s lead before Swalleh pulled another goal back for Aidenal to ensure the game ended 9-2.

In a dramatic turn of events, Lubowa, spurred by Abdullahi’s heroics, answered in kind, single-handedly securing eight of Lubaga’s nine goals against Kawempe. His first two goals leveled the score at 1-1 and 2-2 in the early minutes of the match.

Lubowa’s scoring spree continued unabated in the second half as Kawempe faltered, especially after Timothy Dembe’s red card. Abdi Nasir sealed the victory with another goal for Lubaga, while Sulaiman Kasozi, Arafat Luwangula, and Ashraf Walugembe managed to salvage consolations for Kawempe.

With his remarkable eight-goal haul, Lubowa inches closer to breaking Sulaiman Mutyaba’s single-season goal record of 48 goals, cementing his status as a force to be reckoned with in the league.

Lubowa has one game to break that as the 2023/24 betPawa FSL will be coming to an end next week as Lubaga battles Edgars Youth Programme.
